RE: OS El Capitan Drivers - When? Jump to solution For what it's worth, the latest OS X drivers for the 2330DN work pretty well (duplex printing fine, but if you need to scale from A4 to Letter, like I do, not great).
Hey you Apple-Maniacs out there, finally i got a reason to ask our mighty community for support/help but the reason is very unpleasant for me. Since the last OS update from Yosemite to El Capitan my printer is not working, it's been still recognized but it fails everytime with the same error. I am talking about an Epson AcuLaser M1400 connected via USB to my Air and sadly the printer is working with a Windows Laptop, so the issue has to be on the Mac 😢. Performed TS: I already downloaded the newest drivers from Apple and Epson: no sucess tried to delete and add the printer several times and even restarted my mac changed toner doesn't matter what kind of data type/document/apps are used So any advices or even solutions? Thanks a lot! Found a solution that worked for me when running 10.11 with Epson Aculaser CX17WF (guess it will work for CX17 as well). NOTE: this does not fix any issues for the scanner of the Epson Aculaser, do not attempt these steps if you do not feel comfortable working with the terminal.
The issue is originating from the fact that OSX 10.11 comes with a protected mode called System Integrity Protection (rootless), which protect the Epson Printer driver installer from placing files under /usr/lib where is expects to place them. Under 10.11 this folder is read-only, where the older Epson driver installer expect to write in them. To fix this, I performed the following steps: 1. Go to printer & scanners and reset your printer system, see. Warning: this will remove all installed printer configuration and drivers. Download the printer drivers from Epson at location (EU version). Possible other driver version will work as well.
Reboot your computer and start in recovery mode to disable the System Integrity Protection for this installation only. To do this, reboot and hold command+R key and type 'csrutil disable; reboot' within a terminal, see 4. Once booted again from recovery mode, perform your installation of the Epson driver, this should now complete without errors. The drivers are available for my Epson Workforce 645 all-in-one on Epson's website, so I kept attempting to download the drivers last night and I downloaded the Epson Connect software. I was able to print the confirmation page from Epson Connect last night, but my printer still wasn't showing up in my system preferences & I couldn't print anything else last night. So I completely shut down my iMac last night. This morning when I logged back on, the printer showed up in my system preferences under printers/scanners and I was finally able to print but the printing was painfully slow.
